American Airlines might make a decision within weeks about whether to pursue a merger, the Financial Times newspaper reported Sunday, citing Tom Horton, chief executive of the airline's parent company, AMR Corp. (AAMRQ). "It's probably even a matter of weeks," the report quoted Mr. Horton as saying on the issue of when a decision might come. "We're in the middle of that right now." Mr. Horton said a merger with U.S. Airways Group Inc. (LCC) remains a possibility, the report said. "It may be an attractive option under the right circumstances," the FT quoted him as saying.
