U.S. Airways Group (LCC) is expected to file paperwork with antitrust regulators as early as July for a proposed merger with American Airlines parent AMR Corp. (AAMRQ), Reuters reported, citing people familiar with the matter. Creditors of AMR, which is in bankruptcy, need to weigh the proposed acquisition by U.S. Airways against AMR's own restructuring plan. U.S. Airways believes getting regulatory clearance for the transaction would eliminate some uncertainty from its proposal, the people said, according to Reuters.
