Jeff Urwin will join Deutsche Bank AG as co-head of corporate
banking & securities, the bank said Wednesday.
Mr. Urwin will join from J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., where he
is currently co-head of global banking. Mr. Urwin, who will also
become head of corporate finance, is succeeding Robert Rankin,
Deutsche Bank said.
Colin Fan, Deutsche's existing co-head of corporate banking
& securities, will remain in his role, the bank said.
At J.P. Morgan, Mr. Urwin was named head of global banking with
Carlos Hernandez in April 2014, overseeing investment banking,
corporate banking and treasury and security services.
J.P. Morgan said Mr. Hernandez will become sole head of global
banking, according to an internal memo sent Wednesday afternoon
reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.
Mr. Urwin joined the bank in 2008 after it acquired his former
employerBear Stearns Cos. He rose through the ranks at J.P. Morgan,
serving as co-chief of North American investment banking and head
of Asia-Pacific operations.
"Jeff has been a steady hand and strong manager, providing
leadership to our global franchise," Daniel Pinto, head of J.P.
Morgan's corporate and investment bank, wrote in the memo
announcing Mr. Urwin's departure.
Mr. Urwin joined Bear Stearns in 1996 and later became co-head
of investment banking. Before that he served as head of global
emerging markets at Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. in New York.
