MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Honeywell (NYSE: HON), a leader in managing home comfort and security for more than 125 years, has joined together with SmartThings to give homeowners an easier way to feel comfortable and in control of their homes. Consumers who own a Honeywell Lyric™ thermostat (first and second generation), can now instantly adjust their home's temperature through the new Samsung SmartThings Hub and SmartThings mobile app (available for iOS, Windows, and Android). Other Honeywell thermostats, including the Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat and RedLink thermostats (Honeywell's proprietary wireless communication protocol), will be compatible in the future.

The Honeywell and SmartThings integration represents another milestone toward delivering greater convenience and versatility as consumers use and connect more products and systems throughout their homes. Honeywell thermostats can be organized and controlled by zone, and activated as part of customized actions for preset routines using the SmartThings app. In the future, other Honeywell and SmartThings products will be able to interact through the same secure cloud technology, empowering homeowners and helping them to organize and manage their home with a few actions on their mobile devices.

"Customers put their trust in Honeywell to help them enjoy peace of mind and savings that are possible with our family of connected thermostats," said Jeremy Eaton, president of Honeywell's Home Comfort business. "Now we are able to take that to the next level for customers who have welcomed the Samsung SmartThings Hub and SmartThings mobile app into their homes."
