Honda Vietnam Co., Ltd. (HVN), a Honda's manufacturer and distributor of motorcycles and automobiles in Vietnam, today held a ceremony in Hanoi to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its operations. This event marks an important milestone of HVN's business activities and long-time commitment to the growth in Vietnam.

Presiding over the ceremony were guests of honour, Ms. Hoang Thi Thuy Lan, Member of Central Committee of Vietnam Communist Party Cum Secretary of Vinh Phuc's Communist Party Cum Chairwoman of Vinh Phuc's People's Council, and Mr. Mai Tien Dung, Member of Central Committee of Vietnam Communist Party Cum Secretary of Hanam's Communist Party Cum Chairman of Hanam's People's Council. Representing Honda were Mr. Tetsuo Iwamura, Executive Vice President, Executive Officer and Representative Director of Honda Motor Co., Ltd., Mr. Noriaki Abe, Operating Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Regional Operations (Asia & Oceania), Honda Motor Co., Ltd., and Mr. Minoru Kato, General Director of Honda Vietnam Co., Ltd.

To celebrate the important milestone, at the ceremony, Honda Vietnam granted 243 Honda motorcycles to the Vietnamese Police authorities for use in their daily operations. Meanwhile, Honda Vietnam received a Certificate of Merit from the National Traffic Safety Committee (NTSC) for its continued dedication to ensuring road safety, as well as a Government Award Flag signed by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on behalf of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung for the company's excellence.

Honda Vietnam was founded in 1996 as a distributor of Honda motorcycles, and started motorcycle production in 1997 at its factory based in Vinh Phuc Province. The company expanded its business scope to automobile business when it started manufacturing automobiles in 2006. Since the establishment, HVN has invested approximately 530 million US dollars, and currently has about 10,000 Vietnamese associates. HVN has delivered around 20 million motorcycles and 44,000 automobiles to customers in Vietnam.

As a corporate citizen of Vietnam, HVN has initiated various social activities in areas such as education, environment conservation, community support, and traffic safety. One of the highlight activities is an effort to raise awareness and knowledge on safe driving behavior among the Vietnamese. In 1999, HVN established the Traffic Safety Center in Vinh Phuc province to provide safe driving trainings to customers, government officers, and the general public. The Center has been offering extensive courses to associates of motorcycles and automobile dealers so they can instruct customers and the public. The Center has already produced more than 1,500 instructors. The total number of people who have attended safe drive training courses at the Traffic Safety Center, through motorcycles and automobile dealers, as well as direct training at schools and universities, has reached nearly 6 million nationwide. HVN also promotes traffic safety knowledge via a TV program called "I Love Vietnam". The program has been broadcast on National Television channel for over 11 years, contributing to raised awareness and knowledge on traffic safety among millions of TV viewers in Vietnam.
