PITTSBURGH, March 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Federated Investors, Inc. (NYSE: FII), one of the nation's largest investment managers, today announced that two of its mutual funds received Lipper Fund Awards recognizing their category-leading performance.  The Service Shares of the Federated High Yield Trust earned the Lipper award for the five-year period ending Dec. 31, 2015, and the A Shares of the Federated International Leaders Fund earned the Lipper award for the 10-year period ending Dec. 31, 2015 – both based on Lipper's calculation of consistent return for their respective periods.

Federated High Yield Trust (FHYTX) earned the Lipper Fund Award in the High Yield Funds category and ranked best out of 127 portfolios and 433 funds for the five-year period.  Federated High Yield Trust seeks to provide a high level of current income by investing primarily in high-yield, lower-rated corporate bonds. The fund seeks to enhance returns by augmenting its portfolio of high-yield bonds with an opportunistic allocation of up to 20 percent in public stocks of high-yield companies. This is the second consecutive year Lipper has recognized Federated High Yield Trust for its performance. Portfolio managers Mark Durbiano and Gene Neavin bring 49 years of combined experience to the fund.

Federated International Leaders Fund (FGFAX) earned the Lipper Fund Award in the International Multi-Cap Core Funds category and ranked best out of 54 portfolios and 144 funds for the 10-year period.  The fund seeks to provide long-term capital growth by investing primarily in developed-market stocks of high-quality, foreign companies. Portfolio managers Marc Halperin, Richard M. Winkowski Jr. and Dariusz Czoch bring 72 years of combined experience to the fund.

"These 2015 Lipper Awards showcased Federated's commitment to providing outstanding investment performance for fund shareholders," said John B. Fisher, president and chief executive officer, Federated Advisory Companies. "We appreciate Lipper's recognition of the talented investment professionals who contributed to the strong performance of these two funds."

International investing involves special risks including currency risk, increased volatility, political risks, and differences in auditing and other financial standards. Prices of emerging-markets securities can be significantly more volatile than the prices of securities in developed countries, and currency risk and political risks are accentuated in emerging markets.

Bond prices are sensitive to changes in interest rates, and a rise in interest rates can cause a decline in their prices.

High-yield, lower-rate securities generally entail greater market, credit/default and liquidity risk and may be more volatile than investment-grade securities.
