SHANGHAI--Ford Motor Co. is adjusting prices in some markets in
China but keeping overall pricing stable, its president and chief
executive said Monday.
At a press briefing on the sidelines of the Shanghai auto show,
Mark Fields disputed a report by Bernstein Research that said Ford,
among others, had cut prices in China by up to 10%. "Max was
incorrect," Mr. Fields said, referring to Bernstein analyst Max
Warburton.
Mr. Warburton couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
"In some selected markets we've been adjusting prices," Mr.
Fields said, but he added "we've been firm." He didn't disclose
details of the price adjustments.
Ford, like many other auto makers, has seen slowing sales growth
in China.
