Each Exelon utility – BGE, ComEd and PECO honor
efforts of company workers
March 31 marks National Lineman Appreciation Day, established in
2013, to honor the men and women that work day-in and day-out to
provide safe and reliable service to customers. Today, ComEd
salutes its more than 1,600 men and women who work 24 hours a day,
seven days a week, often in challenging conditions, and on weekends
and holidays, to serve our customers.
To honor the nation’s line workers, a resolution was introduced
in the U.S. House of Representatives designating March 31, 2015, as
National Lineman Appreciation Day.
“Our line workers are our first responders and work around the
clock on high-voltage power lines atop wood poles and towering
transmission structures, in underground vaults beneath the city
streets and complex electrical substations in every community and
in the tallest skyscrapers to power the lives of our 3.8 million
customers,” said Terry Donnelly, executive vice president and chief
operating officer. “We thank our dedicated and skilled employees
for their hard work and congratulate them for achieving our best
safety performance on record last year.”
ComEd encourages customers to honor line workers across the
region by using the hashtag #thankalineman on social media. Connect
