CARMEL, Ind., Aug. 9, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Employers gave high marks to ITT Technical Institute graduates for technical and soft skills, such as recognition for "contributing as a team member" and "meeting the expectations for product quality and personal conduct."

The results are pulled from the most recent national employer survey of more than 1,900 employers completed in the fall of 2015. Many employers are united with ITT Technical Institute on a common goal to deliver an outcome-oriented education for its graduates who are prepared for today's workforce demands.

"Employer feedback is critically important when responding to the educational needs of students and impacting the workforce," said Kevin M. Modany, CEO of ITT Educational Services, Inc.

ITT Tech's nationwide program advisory committees complete semi-annual surveys, visit campuses, and provide feedback on the school's curricula to help shape the future of ITT Tech programs. They also provide advice on lab equipment, faculty recruitment, and professional development.

Participating employers, such as Vivint, Inc., Nucor Corporation and KJWW Engineering Consultants, come from a variety of fields, representing businesses and government entities on the local, regional and national level.

Michael Williams, a graduate of ITT Tech, said his program advisory committee involvement is invaluable to his firm Canam Electric LLC as they look for AutoCAD technicians. "Our input helps ITT Tech provide the most effective training," said Williams. "We can also bring them insight from our experience in the working world."

Here are some examples of the areas in which participating employers gave high marks to ITT Tech graduates who have been employed at their organizations as being either well-prepared or extremely well-prepared for specific skills:

In Information Technology:

  • Applying information technology skills to solving information systems security problems
  • Applying critical thinking skills to assess arguments, proposals and solutions

In Electronics Technology:

  • Demonstrating technical skills in practical applications of computers, networking and programming
  • Analyzing, implementing, maintaining and troubleshooting integrated circuits and systems

In Graphics Communications and Design:

  • Contributing as a team member
  • Meeting expectations for personal conduct and product quality

Participating employers also meet to review and discuss industry trends, as well as the demands of the local employment market. The feedback helps administrators not only create programs but professional development initiatives to meet the needs of STEM-related and technology-focused industries.
