NEW DELHI--An investigation by the U.S. Labor Department has cleared Infosys Ltd. of any violations of visa rules for skilled workers during its work with a California power company, the Indian outsourcing firm said.

"The U.S. Department of Labor concluded its investigation with a determination of compliance regarding labor condition applications filed in the Southern California Edison project," Infosys said in a statement posted on its Website on Monday. "Over 145 files were reviewed, with no violations found," the statement added.

The Labor Department in June said it was trying to determine if Infosys, along with competitor Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., violated labor and immigration laws by replacing American workers with foreigners on temporary work visas when working with the power company, Southern California Edison.

However, the status of the investigation against TCS was still unclear.

A company spokesperson said in an emailed statement that "audits by the Department of Labor have taken place from time to time and TCS has always been found to be compliant." The spokesperson declined further comment.

The U.S. Labor Department didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
