The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW) commends the U.S. Congress
on the final passage of the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for
the 21st Century Act (H.R. 2576). This critically important
legislation will strengthen and modernize the Toxic Substances
Control Act (TSCA), our nation’s primary means for regulating
chemicals.
“This landmark legislation will fundamentally reform our
nation’s chemical regulatory program, restore confidence in the
safety of chemicals and provide companies like Dow with the
regulatory certainty necessary to drive investment,” said Andrew N.
Liveris, Dow’s chairman and chief executive officer. “Dow commends
Senators Inhofe, Udall and Vitter and Congressmen Upton and Shimkus
on their strong leadership and unwavering dedication to pass
bipartisan legislation that allows U.S. manufacturers to continue
to provide innovative solutions made possible today through
advanced chemistry.”
We applaud Congress on their action and look forward to the
President signing this vital legislation as soon as possible.
