LONDON--De La Rue PLC (DLAR.LN) Monday said it had signed a new 10-year contract with the Bank of England to print its sterling banknotes, without disclosing financial details.

The confirmation comes after the central bank announced that De La Rue had been identified as the "preferred bidder" for the banknote printing contract on Sept. 8.

"We are delighted with the Bank of England's decision to award this prestigious and important contract to De La Rue, following a rigorous selection procedure," De La Rue Chairman Philip Rogerson said.

Shares at 1215 GMT, up 13 pence, or 2.8%, at 488 pence, valuing the company at GBP493.3 million ($793 million).
