CSC Recognized as One of the World’s Most Sustainable IT Providers by Publishers of Dow Jones Sustainability Indices

CSC (NYSE: CSC), a global leader in next-generation IT services and solutions, today announced that it has received the “RobecoSAM Industry Mover Sustainability 2017 Award,” based on its environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices that ranked in the top 15 percent of all companies.

RobecoSAM, a Swiss-based sustainability investing firm that jointly publishes the globally recognized Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI), analyzes an annual Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) from more than 3,400 companies in 60 different industries to find out how listed companies are exercising financially material economic, environmental and social practices.

According to the IT Services and Internet Software Services section of RobecoSAM’s CSA, CSC was recognized for its sustainability improvement over the previous year and for being a top company that:

  • Shows strong growth in providing services driven by increasing global internet penetration and by the move towards mobile internet usage;
  • Protects client privacy and secures confidential data through rigorous enforcement of code of conduct;
  • Continues to attract and retain qualified staff;
  • Substitutes travel with conference calls and other collaboration tools; and
  • Makes investments in more efficient data centers, which ideally are operated with renewable energy.

According to RobecoSAM, sustainability challenges are shaping companies’ competitive landscape, and companies that take the lead in seizing opportunities and managing risks associated with these challenges are best positioned to outperform their peers. This year’s CSA report indicates that 1,500 investors representing over $60 trillion in assets under management have committed to integrating sustainability into their investment decisions.

“CSC is very proud to have been selected from such an elite group of companies based on the work we do in the areas of innovation, resource efficiency, product safety, client focus and industry excellence,” said Mike Lawrie, chairman, president and chief executive officer, CSC. “Being recognized at this level further validates the results of our corporate responsibility efforts.

RobecoSAM has been conducting its annual CSA since 1999. Each year the study asks between 80-120 industry-specific questions that are relevant to the companies’ success, but are under-researched in a conventional financial analysis. As a recipient of the “Industry Mover Sustainability Award,” CSC will be listed in RobecoSAM’s “2017 Sustainability Yearbook,” which announces the world’s most sustainable companies in each industry as determined by their CSA score.
