Ditched N Sea Helicopter Bound For ConocoPhillips-leased Rig

LONDON -(Dow Jones)- A helicopter that was forced to make an emergency landing in the North Sea Thursday was ferrying workers to ConocoPhillips Corp. (COP)-leased drilling rigs on the Jasmine field, a ConocoPhillips spokesman said. The Eurocopter EC225 helicopter, operated by Bond Aviation, ditched into the North Sea at around midday Thursday, with all 14 passengers safe and accounted for. The spokesman said some passengers were already in hospital in Aberdeen, but he said initial indications were that no serious injuries had occurred and that this was a precautionary measure. The rest were still aboard a rescue vessel. The incident occurred around 25 miles offshore Aberdeen, a Bond Aviation spokesman said. "The pilots made a controlled descent after a low-pressure warning light came on and then landed in the sea," said the Bond spokesman. ConocoPhillips wasn't immediately able to confirm whether the passengers onboard were employees of the U.S. firm or of third-party contractors working on their behalf. The workers were bound for the Ensco 102 jack-up rig and the Maersk Resilient jack-up rig, owned by Ensco PLC (ESV). -By Alexis Flynn, Dow Jones Newswires, +44 207 842 9471, alexis.flynn@dowjones.com
