BEIJING -(Dow Jones)- China Mobile Ltd. (CHL) said Friday it will start large-scale testing of a domestically developed fourth-generation mobile communications technology, having received approval from regulators. China Mobile, having developed a local Chinese 3G standard, is now working on a local 4G standard, which will allow even faster data transmission. The global 4G mobile standard is called Long Term Evolution, or LTE. China Mobile's variation on the standard is called TD-LTE. China's telecommunications regulator, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, will plan and organize the testing. China Mobile will be responsible for network construction, operation maintenance, examination and testing of technological products, it said in a statement. A series of domestic and overseas equipment makers will participate in the tests, China Mobile said, including ZTE Corp.
