MELVILLE, N.Y., Oct. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of its
ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, Canon
U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital
imaging solutions, is proud to announce that the Company's
partnership with the Arbor Day
Foundation has helped contribute to the planting of 50,000 trees
this year. This milestone is the latest outcome of Canon's ongoing
support of the Arbor Day Foundation's
Community Tree Recovery Program, which helps to rebuild communities
affected by natural disasters through the planting of trees.
Since 2009, Canon's contributions to Arbor Day's reforestation efforts and the
Community Tree Recovery Program have helped provide more than
410,000 trees, across national forests and communities impacted by
natural disasters. This year, the Arbor
Day Foundation, has planted a total of nearly one million
trees across 12 states, with the donation of over 50 different
types of species. Through the Canon Forest Program, which supports
the Community Tree Recovery Program, Canon supported the planting
of one tree for every eligible imageRUNNER ADVANCE multifunction
system sold from April 1, 2016,
reaching a goal of 50,000 trees planted.
"We are proud to team up with Canon for another successful year
of helping to rebuild recovering communities across the country,"
said Dan Lambe, president,
Arbor Day Foundation. "With each tree
we plant, we are working to inspire hope and healing to lives
impacted by natural disaster."
"Environmental programs have long been cornerstones of Canon's
philosophy of Kyosei. Together with the Arbor Day Foundation, we are glad to lend a
helping hand in support of communities that have been affected by
natural disasters, one tree at a time," said Toyotsugu Kuwamura,
executive vice president and general manager, Business Imaging
Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A.,
Inc.
In addition to Canon's support for the Arbor Day Foundation, Canon's imageRUNNER ADVANCE
multifunction systems are also designed to minimize their impact on
the environment. Through inclusion in both the EPEAT®1
and ENERGY STAR® programs, Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE products have
been recognized as leaders in their respective categories
particularly when measuring Total Energy Consumption (TEC), with 26
of Canon's 34 EPEAT® Gold ratings awarded to imageRUNNER ADVANCE
MFPs. An ENERGY STAR partner for more than 20 years, Canon has more
than 200 ENERGY STAR certified products that incorporate
energy-efficient technologies, with many offering energy saver
mode, automatic duplex settings and low sleep mode power
consumption, while providing outstanding features and performance.
Earlier this year, Canon U.S.A.
received the 2016 ENERGY STAR "Partner of the Year - Product Brand
Owner Award" from the United States Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) for its contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by
manufacturing energy-efficient products. Altogether, Canon has been
recognized nine times by the EPA since 1996, also earning
"Excellence Awards" for "ENERGY STAR Promotion" (2011) and Product
Labeling (1996, 1997, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2008).
