MELVILLE, N.Y., Aug. 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- A productive
workplace requires efficient individuals. Responding to growing
consumerization within the office environment, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging
solutions, today announced the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5500 Series
with four new compact multifunction color systems designed to adapt
to the individual needs of each user. In addition, the Company has
also introduced the new Color imageCLASS LBP712Cdn, a compact color laser printer designed
to complement imageRUNNER and imageRUNNER ADVANCE fleets for
print-focused needs.
Great for small-to-mid-size organizations and departments within
enterprises, the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5560i, imageRUNNER ADVANCE
C5550i, imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5540i and imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5535i
multifunction systems (MFPs) offer advanced personalization, along
with a convergence of imaging technology and support for cloud
connectivity and various mobile solutions. Designed to provide
high-quality output, powerful performance, outstanding ease-of-use
and virtually seamless integration with various Canon and many
other third-party workflow solutions, this new series is positioned
to be the core of an organization's digital business
communications.
Complementing the new series of imageRUNNER ADVANCE MFPs, the
sleek new Color imageCLASS LBP712Cdn
delivers print speeds of up-to-40 pages per minute
(ppm)1 and provides increased paper capacity for
outstanding uptime. For office areas or individuals that only need
a color print solution, the new imageCLASS model allows the
customer to realize the benefits of excellent productivity and
outstanding image quality without compromising office space. Used
within a print management strategy, that includes imageRUNNER
ADVANCE fleets, the Color imageCLASS LBP712Cdn can provide affordable color printing
and a consistent user experience via common print driver with the
imageRUNNER ADVANCE MFPs. This adaptability makes the Color
imageCLASS LBP712Cdn a powerhouse for
nearly any organization.
"In the past, productivity often required the user to adapt to
technology. But these new imageRUNNER ADVANCE models enable Canon
to reverse these roles, permitting the technology to adapt to the
workflow needs of the individual," said Ed
Crowley of Photizo Group. "With expanded
personalization and security features, as well as outstanding image
quality and convenient finishing options, the imageRUNNER ADVANCE
C5500 Series builds upon the strong capabilities offered by the
third generation platform. "And by providing a common print
experience and management platform across imageRUNNER ADVANCE and a
core suite of imageCLASS series models including the new
LBP712Cdn, Canon is more MPS-ready
than ever, driving an increasingly seamless approach to the market
to while empowering a more solution-driven fleet design."
"An MFP may serve a community of users, but that community is
only as productive as its individuals. When the customer is
provided with tools that help fulfill their individual needs, they
are more comfortable, and therefore have the power to be more
productive in the workplace," said Toyo
Kuwamura, executive vice president and general manager,
Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc. "This new imageRUNNER ADVANCE
Series allows the customer to tailor his or her workflow
experience, and provides smooth integration with various Canon and
many third-party business solutions, complementing every stage of
the document lifecycle – from creation to management, output to
archival. With the addition of these new MFPs, as well as the Color
imageCLASS LBP712Cdn, Canon is
dedicated to providing enterprises and offices with outstanding
print technology, catered to customer needs throughout the
organization."
Advanced Personalization
As part of the third
generation of imageRUNNER ADVANCE models, these new MFPs feature a
flat operation, touchscreen panel, which includes a larger display
and functions for improved usability as compared to prior models.
When authentication is activated, users can access My ADVANCE
features to create a personalized experience tailored to their
preferences. Display settings and many frequently used functions
can be customized on a user-by-user basis such as allowing users to
set their preferred language as well as create their own personal
address book. Integration with the free Canon PRINT Business app**,
also supported by the Color imageCLASS LB712Cdn, further expands
support for personal workflows by allowing users to send to
contacts saved on their compatible smartphones or tablets. Thanks
to the Unified Firmware Platform, additional functionality can
become available to existing models within the third generation of
imageRUNNER Advance MFPs in the future through version upgrades,
unlocking opportunities to continuously provide new value to the
users.
Workflow Productivity
The imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5500
Series supports toner with significantly higher yields from
previous models and is equipped with a waste toner bottle three
times the size of predecessor models, reducing the frequency with
which users need to change bottles. In addition, live-action video
demonstrations displayed right on the control panel can help users
perform common maintenance procedures. Each model can support
advanced finishing options, including hole-punching, stapling and
booklet-making. The Staple-Free Staple feature2 allows
for easy shredding, efficient paper stacking and uses fewer staples
to help reduce waste, and the Staple On Demand feature allows users
to re-staple originals after copying/scanning, or to staple
documents that were printed without the appropriate staple settings
initially selected. Additionally, an improved multi-purpose tray
with auto-size detection helps save time by automatically detecting
standard paper sizes when they are placed in the tray.
The Color imageCLASS LBP712Cdn is
designed to provide maximum efficiency with a minimal footprint. A
reliable workhorse printer for busy workgroups, this model is
designed to help customers achieve outstanding results in an
efficient manner. Delivering a consistent print speed of 40-pages
per minute,1 even when printing two-sided, this compact
model wakes up from sleep mode in just 9.2 seconds minimizing loss
of work time. It can be set up as a desktop model for banks and
other environments where available space is at a premium, or can be
configured with up to three additional trays to support diverse
printing needs of marketing and other departments across a variety
of print media. Furthermore, the LBP712Cdn utilizes a common print driver to the
imageRUNNER ADVANCE models, which can free up IT resources and
minimize customer learning-curves.
Image Quality
Equipped with the V2 Color
profile, the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5500 Series and Color imageCLASS
LBP712Cdn can help users create
impactful, well-defined images to help customers generate stunning
prints. The imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5500 Series also features an
"Insulated & Air Pressure" (IAP) Toner Bottle, helping to
facilitate a steady toner supply, while "Consistently Stable" (CS)
toner offers high transfer stability, providing prints with minimal
irregularities and scattering, even over long runs. In addition, an
enhanced intermediate transfer belt for the successful transfer of
toner helps to better fill the concaves of rough media, as well as
a newly enhanced fixing belt to help users achieve solid,
well-defined blacks.
Cost Management
Both the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5500
Series and the Color imageCLASS LBP712Cdn can support the optional uniFLOW
solution, making these new models excellent options for managed
document services and overall print management strategies. Advanced
user authentication with Universal Login Manager comes standard on
the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5500 Series, allowing organizations to
manage print and document costs by controlling employees' access
and usage. This standard solution allows for a virtually seamless
upgrade to the optional uniFLOW software, Canon's comprehensive and
scalable solution software platform for device, output management
and smart scanning solutions.
Security
In order to help limit access to
customer's sensitive information, the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5500
Series features a set of standard and optional security
capabilities.3 As part of the third generation of
imageRUNNER ADVANCE systems, these MFPs include a standard Hard
Disk Drive (HDD) Encryption function with FIPS140-2 validation
which, when activated, automatically encrypts data stored on the
main unit's HDD, thereby helping to restrict access to the
customer's data. The Color imageCLASS LBP712Cdn avoids the use of a hard drive to help
limit storage of sensitive customer information on this device.
Device & Fleet Management
These new imageRUNNER
ADVANCE systems and the Color imageCLASS LBP712Cdn can be supported by a customer's
Canon's imageWARE Enterprise Management Console4, its
plug-ins and Canon's Managed Document Services. With these
additional solutions, customers can benefit from centralized
control for day-to-day management, as well as tools to easily
deploy and manage device settings, user management and security
features across the fleet of multifunction systems.
Sustainability
With features to help reduce waste,
technology designed to provide low energy consumption, which can
help limit emissions, the third generation imageRUNNER ADVANCE
models, as well as the Color imageCLASS LBP712Cdn, are designed to help support
customers' sustainability goals. The new imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5500
Series models are Energy Star® certified and rated EPEAT® Gold,
while the Color LBP712Cdn is Energy
Star® certified and rated EPEAT® Silver.5
