Accounting, will be this year's recipient of the Institute of
Management Accountants' (IMA) Long
Island chapter's Milton Zipper Financial Executive of the
Year Award. This honor is awarded to those individuals on
Long Island who have made
outstanding achievements in the field of finance and have dedicated
themselves to supporting the Long
Island business community. Tavares will be presented with
the award at a special ceremony held by the IMA at the Woodbury
Country Club on Tuesday, May 10,
2016.

In her role as vice president of Finance and Accounting for
Canon U.S.A., Ana Tavares serves as the Company's corporate
controller for the Americas. Prior to joining Canon, Ana brought
with her international experience focusing on global business
services, working with various financial firms in locations such as
Malaysia, Canada and Latin
America. Born in Portugal,
Tavares earned a post-graduate in International Commerce by
Universidade Lusiada, and a Masters in Accounting from Instituto
Superior de Contabilidade e Administração de Lisboa, ISCAL. She is currently based out of
Canon U.S.A.'s headquarters in
Melville, New York.
The Milton Zipper Financial Executive of the Year award has been
presented annually since 1989 by the Long
Island chapter of the IMA. The winner is selected by former
presidents of the Long Island IMA chapter based off of the strong
qualifications of Long Island's
top business leaders. The IMA is a worldwide organization with
members in 41 different countries with 300 professional and student
chapters that consist of over 80,000 members all together from the
public and private sectors, as well as education and not-for-profit
