DOW JONES NEWSWIRES Vivendi SA's (VIV.FR) Universal Music Group sale of music-publishing catalogs has attracted interest from companies including Providence Equity Partners and Bertelsmann AG, Bloomberg News reported late Tuesday on its website, citing three unnamed sources. Independent music companies and other private-equity companies have also requested for more information about the assets, and Universal Music plans to narrow the interested parties to about 20 to 30 candidates in the next two to three weeks, the report said. Warner Music Group isn't bidding for the catalogs, the report quoted two of the sources as saying. Representatives for Universal Music, Providence, Bertelsmann and Warner Music declined comment, the report said.
