NEW YORK, June 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Amherst Capital Management LLC, a BNY Mellon investment boutique specializing in real estate, today announced a significant milestone in its analytic capabilities with the formation of its new Research and Analytics team based in the firm's New York office. Joining the firm are three sell-side research analysts with years of experience who will help bring even greater insights and opportunities to Amherst Capital's investors.

Sandeep Bordia, who most recently served as Head of Securitized Products Research for Barclays Capital, will lead the team as Head of Research and Analytics and drive Amherst Capital's thematic research, idea generation while also supporting investment and hedging strategies. In this role, Bordia will work closely with Laurie Goodman, Non-Executive Director of Research and Analytics, to leverage the full extent of Amherst Capital's intellectual property1 to enhance the investment capabilities of the firm.

"The creation of our new Research and Analytics team represents a momentous occasion for Amherst Capital," said Goodman. "Since inception, data analysis has been at the core of Amherst Capital's real estate expertise and the new team both reinforces and strengthens the firm's dedication to providing clients not only with a cutting-edge technology platform, but also with seasoned talent and innovation."

Bordia brings with him two former colleagues from Barclays, Jasraj Vaidya and Aaron Haan, who will support these initiatives and the investment teams as research analysts. In this capacity, Vaidya and Haan will leverage Amherst Capital's proprietary data and analytics1 to conduct in-depth quantitative and qualitative analyses of the real estate markets, support investment ideas and write thematic whitepapers.

"We are thrilled to have Sandeep, Jasraj and Aaron join Amherst Capital and add their considerable insights to our mortgage backed securities, commercial real estate lending and single family equity investment teams," said Sean Dobson, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Amherst Capital. "Amherst Capital's continued investment in research and technology enables us to identify differentiated, value-add investment opportunities for our investors and these appointments are indicative of our commitment to maintaining our information advantage and cutting-edge technology platform."

During his eight-year tenure at Barclays Capital, Bordia developed and led research analytics, servicing clients in New York and London. In 2009, he and his team were ranked top-three in asset-backed securities and prepayments categories by Institutional Investor in its annual All-America Fixed Income Research Survey.2 Prior to Barclays Bordia worked in mortgage research at Lehman Brothers where he was focused on servicing and origination.

Vaidya has more than 10 years of experience in the real estate investment space. He most recently served as the Head of US CMBS & Residential Credit Strategy at Barclays, where he led a team of five analysts on U.S. Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities, Asset Backed Securities and Residential Credit Strategy. Haan, who also joins from Barclays, has more than seven years of industry experience. Most recently, he served as Vice President within the commercial mortgage research group, specializing in private label and agency commercial mortgage backed securities.

"I am excited to be a part of the Amherst Capital team and to have the ability to translate research into tangible investment results for clients by leveraging one of the real estate industry's most sophisticated analytics platform," added Bordia.
