NCR Corp. (NCR) will be installing more than 500 DVD rental kiosks in outlets of southern convenience store chains MAPCO Express Inc. and Daily's.

NCR, best known for its automated teller machines and cash registers, has already begun deploying the kiosks, which are licensed under the Blockbuster Express brand. An NCR representative said the company is still on track to have 7,000 machines installed by the end of June. The company aims to reach 10,000 by the end of 2010 as it looks to fill the void left by the shrinking brick-and-mortar movie rental operations of Blockbuster Inc. (BBI, BBIB) and Movie Gallery Inc. (MVGRQ), which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in February.

MAPCO, owned by DELEK US Holdings Inc. (DK), has more than 440 outlets in Tennessee, Virginia, Georgia and other southern states. NCR has already placed a number of Blockbuster Express kiosks in MAPCO's Tennessee-area stores as part of a pilot program. Daily's, owned by Tri Star Energy LLC, operates more than 100 stores across Tennessee and Kentucky.

Shares of NCR were recently trading down 2.7% to $12.47.
