HONG KONG--Neil Kell, who resigned from Deutsche Bank, will join Bank of America Merrill Lynch as chairman of international equity capital markets, a person familiar with the situation said Tuesday.

He will stay in Hong Kong for about a year for the newly created position with the U.S. bank and will then move to London, the person said.

Mr. Kell, who will report to global co-heads of ECM Craig Coben and Mary Ann Deignan, will be responsible for strengthening and developing relationships with clients in ECM business such as initial public offerings and share placements in markets including Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.

Mr. Kell recently resigned from Deutsche Bank, which moved him to Hong Kong from London at the beginning of last year, as Asia ECM head excluding Japan.
