New Jersey American Water has appointed Shawn Bunting as vice president and deputy general counsel for American Water and vice president, divisional general counsel & secretary for the company’s Northeast Division.

In this role, Bunting will provide legal counsel and representation for New Jersey American Water, as well as New York American Water. He will also direct and oversee the strategic and day-to-day legal services that support American Water’s state-regulated operations.

Bunting joined American Water in 2008 as vice president, general counsel, chief compliance officer and secretary for American Water Enterprises – American Water’s market-based business. Most recently, he served as divisional general counsel for American Water’s Mid-Atlantic Division where he provided legal counsel.

Previously, Bunting held positions at Allegheny Energy as assistant general counsel, and as an attorney at K&L Gates, LLP.

Bunting earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Criminal Justice at Gettysburg College, and his J.D. from University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
