American Water (NYSE: AWK), the nation’s largest publicly traded water and wastewater utility company, announced today that Nicholas Santillo Jr., Director of Cyber and Physical Security, will participate in the 2015 Electric Infrastructure Security Summit in Washington, D.C. on July 21.

Santillo will participate in two panels. The first, entitled, “Lifeline Infrastructure Resilience to Black Sky Hazards,” will explore the criticality and prioritization of water and wastewater utilities during a black sky hazard. Santillo will later join a second session, “Lifeline Infrastructure Opportunities and Challenges,” and discuss challenges relating to securing critical water and wastewater infrastructure.

The EIS Summit Series is the primary international framework for senior government and industry officials to review and assess power grid security, focusing on “Black Sky Day” hazards -- extraordinary and hazardous catastrophes utterly unlike the blue sky days during which utilities ideally operate.

Founded in 1886, American Water (NYSE: AWK) is the largest and most geographically diverse publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company.
