TAIPEI -(Dow Jones)- Taiwanese liquid-crystal-display maker AU Optronics Corp. (AUO) will focus on expanding in emerging markets, but not in China, where the display market is "near saturation," while demand in the U.S. and Europe is still weak, Chairman K. Y. Lee said Friday. Lee said at a shareholder meeting AU Optronics would focus on expanding in Brazil, India, Indonesia and Latin America, and the executive also said for the first time that Apple Inc. is one of the firm's customers. Global panel prices hit bottom in the first quarter, he said. He also said tablet personal computers running on Microsoft Corp.'s (MSFT) Windows 8 software would focus on corporate users and likely have screens larger than Apple Inc.'s iPads. At the same news conference, AU Optronics Executive Vice President Paul Peng said the company planned to take one to two years to shift its production to making more products with higher average selling prices, whicj will likely boost revenue. -By Lorraine Luk, Dow Jones Newswires; 886-2-25022557; aries.poon@dowjones.com
