LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa.,
Feb. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/
-- Air Products (NYSE: APD) announced today that it will be
presenting a paper and have its SmartFuel® hydrogen technology for
both the automotive and material handling markets on display at the
11th International Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Expo (FC
Expo 2015) taking place February
25-27 at the Tokyo Big Sight in Tokyo, Japan.
"There is a strong move to develop both the automotive and
material handling hydrogen fueling markets in Japan. We have
the proven technology needed for these applications, and we are
honored to have already reached agreement with two prominent
Japanese companies to work together to develop these markets.
FC Expo 2015 will be a step in the direction of showing
capabilities and discussing opportunities. We are pleased to
have a speaking role and have our technology and equipment on
display," said Ed Kiczek, global
business director – Hydrogen Energy Systems at Air Products.
Kiczek added that Air Products has operated in Japan since 1970.
On February 25 at FC Expo 2015,
Ravi Subramanian, business
development manager – Asia for
Hydrogen Energy Systems at Air Products, will present a paper
entitled Potential for Cost and Footprint Reductions in Hydrogen
Infrastructure. Subramanian will talk about Air Products'
continued developmental work on hydrogen fueling and its associated
infrastructure, as well as the company's achievements regarding
cost and needed station footprint reductions. Air Products is
currently deploying its newly-modeled SmartFuel®
hydrogen fueling station technology in California in the
United States.
Additionally at FC Expo 2015, Air Products' hydrogen fueling
technology and dispensing equipment for both the automotive and
material handling markets will be on display in the booths of two
Japanese companies with whom Air Products is working
collaboratively to develop such fueling markets in
Japan.
Air Products' technology and equipment for the automotive
industry will be featured in the booth of NIPPON STEEL &
SUMIKIN Pipeline & Engineering Co. Ltd. (NSPE). Air
Products and NSPE announced the signing of an agreement in
February 2014 signifying the intent
of the two companies to work together on Japan's developing hydrogen fueling
infrastructure market for automotive customers.
Air Products' technology and equipment for the materials
handling industry will be highlighted in the booth of Suzuki Shokan
Co., Ltd. Just last week, Air Products and Suzuki Shokan
jointly announced the signing of an "Alliance Agreement" for the
two companies to work together on the design, construction and
operation of hydrogen fueling stations for use in fueling the
materials handling market. As part of their alliance, the
companies also agreed to an Equipment, Engineering and License for
Suzuki Shokan's purchase and use of key equipment to be supplied by
Air Products for the implementation of Air Products'
SmartFuel® hydrogen fueling station technology.
Air Products, the leading global supplier of hydrogen to
refineries to assist in producing cleaner burning transportation
fuels, has vast experience in the hydrogen fueling industry. In
fact, several sites today for certain hydrogen fueling applications
are fueling at rates of over 75,000 refills per year. Use of the
company's fueling technology is increasing and is over 1,000,000
hydrogen fills per year. The company has been involved in over 180
hydrogen fueling projects worldwide. Cars, trucks, vans, buses,
scooters, forklifts, locomotives, planes, cell towers, material
handling equipment, and even submarines have been fueled with
trend-setting Air Products technologies. Details on Air Products'
hydrogen fueling station technologies can be viewed at

Air Products has more than 60 years of hydrogen experience and
an extensive patent portfolio in hydrogen dispensing technology.
Air Products provides liquid and gaseous hydrogen and a variety of
enabling devices and protocols for fuel dispensing at varied
pressures. Hydrogen for these stations can be delivered to a site
via truck or pipeline, produced by natural gas reformation, biomass
