Ampco-Pittsburgh Corporation (NYSE: AP), today announced that the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of its Union Electric Steel Corporation subsidiary, Robert G. Carothers, will retire, effective April 30, 2016.

To begin an orderly leadership transition, Rodney L. Scagline, Executive Vice President of the Company, has been designated to succeed Mr. Carothers and has been promoted to President of Union Electric Steel, effective November 1, 2015. Mr. Carothers will continue to serve as CEO until his retirement next year, at which time Mr. Scagline will assume full responsibility for Union Electric Steel, its subsidiaries and joint ventures.

Mr. Carothers’ decision to retire will conclude a remarkable career of more than 43 years of continuous service to the Company where he served as the Chief Executive of the Company since January 1998.

Commented Mr. Carothers, “I’ve been honored and privileged to lead an incredible team at Union Electric Steel and am extremely proud of the goals we’ve accomplished and work we have done together. I am truly excited by the vision that Ampco-Pittsburgh has for the Corporation’s future and look forward to working with Rodney and the next generation of leadership as an advisor after my retirement.”

Joining Union Electric in 2011, Mr. Scagline has more than 25 years of experience in the metals industry, including extensive roll making and forging industry expertise. A graduate metallurgist from Carnegie Mellon University, Mr. Scagline holds a Master’s Degree in Material Science from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Master’s Degree in Business from Duquesne University.
