MUMBAI -(Dow Jones)- Bharti Airtel Ltd. (532454.BY) said Thursday Alcatel-Lucent (ALU) will build an Internet protocol-based network for the Indian telecommunications company to speed up its mobile broadband services. Indian telecom companies like Bharti Airtel are betting on increased data usage to help boost revenue amid a stagnation in demand for voice services. Data services usually command higher prices. The new network will help New Delhi-based Bharti Airtel to offer video streaming, high-speed data, social network-based applications, online gaming and video-conferencing services, the Indian company said. The statement didn't provide any financial terms. -By Kenan Machado, Dow Jones Newswires; +91 22 6145 6107; kenan.machado@dowjones.com
