ACE Group today announced two appointments within its Global Accounts segment: Ed Gandon, Casualty Manager, UK & Ireland, and Gary Etherington, Property Manager, UK & Ireland, as it continues to invest in servicing larger UK-based companies with turnovers of over £500m.

Ed Gandon will be responsible for the development and servicing of the company’s UK and Ireland casualty book with a dedicated focus on Global Accounts customers. Ed joined ACE in 2013 as Senior Casualty Underwriter. He has over 10 years’ insurance experience, having previously held the positions of Casualty Broker at Marsh and Senior Casualty Underwriter at Chubb. He will report to Mark Roberts, Casualty Manager, UK & Ireland.

Gary Etherington will be responsible for developing and servicing the property portfolio, again with an exclusive focus on Global Accounts customers. Gary replaces Stephanie Cryer, who has been promoted to Vice President Property, ACE Overseas General. Gary has 15 years’ insurance industry experience, having joined ACE in 2008 as Senior Property Underwriter and was previously Property Underwriter at RSA. He will report into Steve Walker, Property Manager, UK & Ireland.

Both Ed Gandon and Gary Etherington will be based in London and their appointments are effective immediately.

Global Accounts is the new name for ACE’s major risks segment in the UK and Ireland, following the launch of the company’s global initiative last year to bring together regional teams of global client and claims executives, multinational servicing units as well as ACE’s leading award-winning ACE Worldview information portal into one, cohesive Global Accounts team for the benefit of clients and brokers. The Global Accounts division focuses on serving the needs of large domestic and multinational customers around the globe with complex underwriting and servicing needs.

David Robinson, Regional President, ACE UK & Ireland, said: “As an underwriting company, nothing gives us more pleasure than seeing talented underwriters progress within our organisation. Both Ed and Gary have a proven track record of disciplined and creative underwriting as well as leadership qualities which will ensure the continued growth of our P&C teams for the benefit of our global account clients. This internal promotion to two such senior roles is a testament to the talent we have within ACE and also demonstrates our commitment to the development of our people.”

More and more companies in the UK and Ireland are finding opportunities to do business outside their home countries. ACE is one of the very few insurers capable of coordinating service and underwriting across multiple lines and geographies and delivering truly global service to both brokers and clients locally. Global Accounts brings together all of ACE’s capabilities around the world – our people, products and network infrastructure – for the benefit of this important and growing market in the UK and Ireland.”
