series of its online finance courses to 300 SEO summer interns and as many as
2,300 SEO program applicants. The courses will help students gain a greater
understanding of the business areas in which they will be interning this
summer.
Sponsors for Educational Opportunity is a nonprofit organization founded in
1963 as one of New York City's first mentoring programs for students of color.
Today, SEO is a 40-employee, international organization that annually provides
hundreds of undergraduate students of color with training, coaching, and
substantive summer internships in highly competitive financial services
companies such as Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, and Credit Suisse First
Boston.
During the 2003-2004 academic year, SEO presented on more than 100 college
campuses in order to attract applicants. As a result, applications grew by 50%
from the prior year and SEO successfully placed 300 interns this summer (up
from 260) within top financial services companies in New York City, London, and
Hong Kong.
Zoologic's online courses will provide this year's SEO interns with training in
corporate finance, research, sales and trading, and asset management -- the
core business areas in which they will be working. In addition, Zoologic has
made available its just-in-time financial reference tool (ZooFiRST(TM)) to
nearly 500 SEO first-year analysts and interns to help them excel in their
professional assignments on a daily basis.
