webMethods Announces Election of Fran Dramis to Board of Directors

BellSouth's Chief Information, E-Commerce and Security Officer Joins Newly Expanded Board as an Independent Director

FAIRFAX, Va., Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- webMethods, Inc. (NASDAQ:WEBM), a leading business integration and optimization software company, today announced that its Board of Directors has elected Francis A. "Fran" Dramis, Jr. to the Board as an independent director. Mr. Dramis will serve as a Class II Director until the 2007 annual meeting of webMethods stockholders. With his addition, the webMethods Board has been expanded to ten members with eight positions currently held by independent directors.

Mr. Dramis currently serves as Chief Information, E-Commerce and Security Officer for BellSouth Corporation. In this role, he is responsible for all information technologies for BellSouth and for directing that company's eCommerce efforts. In addition, he is responsible for overseeing business continuity and security efforts. Mr. Dramis joined BellSouth in 1998 and has been recognized by various industry publications as a top CIO.

Before joining BellSouth, Mr. Dramis worked with CIO Strategy, Inc., a Virginia-based information technology consulting firm, where he led major technology transformation initiatives for a number of national organizations. Prior to that time, Mr. Dramis was managing director and CIO at Salomon Brothers. Mr. Dramis also served as president and chief operating officer of Telic Corporation. Early in his career, Mr. Dramis worked with AT&T, including Bell Labs, rising to the position of executive director of information product management.

Mr. Dramis currently serves as director and chairman of the BellSouth Technology Group. He also serves on the boards of the BellSouth Solutions Group, Inc., the BellSouth Foundation and Avocent Corporation.

Mr. Dramis received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University and a Master of Science degree from Pace University.
