ROTTERDAM (AFX) - Unilever said in 2005, it plans to close a production site
in Baarn, the Netherlands, where the Anglo-Dutch company produces bouillon, dry
mixes and sauces.
Earlier this year, the company started a review of the site. It has now
decided to move one production line from Baarn to another Dutch site in
Loosdrecht, to sell two other lines and move some activities to Unilever
operations in Switzerland and Italy.
Through the sale of some production lines, a large number of the 110 jobs at
the site will be preserved. Unilever is helping some 20 employees faced with
redundancy to find alternative employment, while another 30 employees have taken
voluntary redundancy earlier this year.
