#70 MILLION CONTRACT EXPANDS VT GROUP's EXPERTISE IN FIRE FIGHTING TRAINING
VT Group has expanded its support services activities in fire fighting training
by signing a contract to build, operate and maintain a new Centre in South
Wales.
The #70m. contract strengthens VT's position as the UK's leading PFI provider of
fire fighting training services and follows a similar project for the Somerset,
Avon and Gloucestershire brigades. Both projects contract VT Group to build,
operate and maintain the centres for a 25-year period.
Construction of the South Wales Centre at Cardiff Gate will start shortly. As
with Avonmouth, the project will see VT provide the finance in return for a
long-term commitment from the customer, who will use the Centre for an agreed
number of student days per year.
VT Group Chief Executive Paul Lester commented: "This latest extension of our

training activities for the emergency services and underlines our capability as
a major player in the PFI sector."

vocational training. For the year ended March 2004, Support Services
accounted for #514 million of the Group's turnover, representing 77% of
sales.
4. VT Group's Shipbuilding operations comprise Warships and Marine Products,
including small craft. VT is a leading exporter of warships and an
established Prime Contractor for the design and construction of vessels
ranging from frigates, corvettes and offshore patrol vessels to pilot boats
and rigid inflatables. Specialist equipment for the marine, offshore and
aerospace industries is also manufactured. For the year ended March 2004,
Shipbuilding accounted for #156 million of the Group's turnover,
representing 23% of sales.
