A dash of creativity, a pinch of fun,
and the once-in-a-lifetime experience to make a mess in the kitchen without
getting in trouble, produced sweet rewards for 10-year-old North Carolina
resident Bronwyn Fadem. Following a cook-off competition in New York City,
'all' laundry brand announced Bronwyn as the messiest kid chef in America and
national winner of a $25,000 scholarship in its "Small Chef - Big Mess"
Challenge.
The national contest, sponsored by 'all' laundry brand, was created in an
effort to help encourage families to spend quality time together in the kitchen
- kids included. Through the "Small Chef - Big Mess" Challenge, 'all' laundry
brand, which features laundry detergent formulated to get out 99 top food
stains, inspired promising, kid gourmets like Bronwyn to rollup their sleeves,
gather their favorite ingredients, get creative, and have some messy fun in the
kitchen.
"You're gonna get down right messy when you cook with me," Fadem said. "And
that's my favorite part!"
As one of twenty-five semifinalists in the contest, Bronwyn was chosen from
thousands of online votes to be one of five finalists who traveled to New York
City and competed in a cook-off competition, judged by celebrity chef Rachael
Ray. Decided by Ray, Bronwyn's Lasagna Roll-Ups recipe won her the $25,000
scholarship grand prize and an appearance on The Tony Danza Show. Bronwyn's
recipe can be found at the bottom of this release.
"We are thrilled to have Bronwyn as the grand prizewinner," said Ray. "Her
creativity, originality and messiness in the kitchen resulted in a delicious,
child-friendly recipe for all families to make and enjoy together."
Ray, a noted chef, author and host of the Food Network's "Rachael Ray's 30
Minute Meals" and "$40 a Day," has also teamed up with 'all' laundry brand to
provide her own child-friendly recipes and useful tips for minimizing kitchen
messes. The recipes and tips are to help make cooking (and cleaning) with kids
easier, and to help parents increase their enjoyment and frequency of cooking
with kids.
The "Small Chef - Big Mess" Challenge was inspired by a recent "Messes to
Masterpieces" survey conducted by 'all', which found that an overwhelming
percentage of moms (82 percent) said they would cook more with their kids if
they didn't have to worry about the mess.
'all' laundry brand continues to offer parents special recipes and tips for
cooking and cleaning with kids. Rachael Ray's child-friendly recipes and tips,
and information on the "Small Chef - Big Mess" Challenge can be found at
