kodomo®, a next-generation application that gives parents the
ability to monitor and manage their child’s mobile lifestyle on an
Android® device, is introducing new features that will help parents
gain insight and understanding into how their children use mobile
applications and messaging.
The new kodomo version offers four distinct features:
1. Parental Newsfeed: The Newsfeed feature provides
parents with continuous updates on the applications used on their
children’s phones. Parents get up-to-minute summaries on what a
child is doing on a device — and if they have multiple children,
they can set separate feeds for each one.
2. SMS Monitoring: Parents can track with whom their
children are text messaging by monitoring senders and recipients,
as well as the number of messages being sent, on mobile
devices.
3. Profanity Catcher: Trying to stop a child from using
bad language, or at least tone it down? kodomo informs parents if
the SMS messages being sent or received contain bad words.
4. Anti-Spyware Protection: kodomo protects user privacy
and can’t be used to spy on other people. The child app always
notifies the user that it is present.
Originally designed with a vision to help parents gain peace of
mind in managing their families’ mobile lifestyles, kodomo is
expanding to offer data and insight tools that aim to help parents
build more trusting relationships with their children. The
company’s groundbreaking features are designed to give parents data
that they can use to have meaningful conversations with their
children about excessive or unacceptable use of mobile devices,
including phones and tablets.
“Our goal is to become the go-to, single application for parents
who wish to keep their children safe, while also helping to guide
them to healthy mobile habits,” said Bill Anderson, Chief Product
Officer at OptioLabs. “While most parental apps help to block,
track and control mobile usage, we want to empower parents with
tools that will help them teach their kids how to use devices
responsibly.”
To use kodomo, parents download and run the iPhone or Android
kodomo parent app from the Google Play or iTunes store, and select
the child phones they want to follow. kodomo sends a text with a
link to install the child app on the child’s Android device. The
kodomo parent app is designed for either an Android L (Android
“Lollipop”) or iOS8 device, and the child application requires an
Android L phone.
