A Summer Camp Kid-Tested, Parent-Approved
Jo-Ann's Kidz Camps feature life-based craft projects for boys and girls
HUDSON, Ohio, June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Findings from research conducted by the
Hobby Industry Association indicate that 85 percent of teachers said hands-on
activities improve the educational process and help students learn both simple
and complex ideas. Engaging in crafts helps increase students' creativity,
writing skills and comprehension of facts and concepts.
For the second year, Jo-Ann Stores makes learning during summer break fun. The
nation's largest fabric and craft retailer is getting ready for summer with its
curriculum-based Kidz Camps. Select Jo-Ann superstores across the country will
host a series of camps for six weeks beginning in June. Children will
participate in fun, hands-on crafting activities designed to enhance
developmental skills for all ages while making cool keepsakes to take home.
"Crafts offer an outlet for children to develop important life skills while
allowing them to express their creativity and imagination," said Angie Baber,
director of education for Jo-Ann Stores. "Even though it's summer, the kids
will be learning while they are designing a scrapbook, fashioning capris or
painting a mural." The Kidz Camps are designed to merge creativity and originality with learning
and growth. The camps meet the educational objectives set by the National
Standards for Arts Education and were developed with the assistance of
teachers. Parents will receive written summaries of the learning objectives for
each class. This year, the classes will focus more on nurturing skills that
enhance social abilities and developmental skills that will help children in
both group settings and in the classroom.
Camp Schedule Each week, the Kidz Camps will feature different classes focusing on specific
projects to educate kids on that topic. Classes last two hours a day for five
days a week. Class times vary by store. The camps are available at all Jo-Ann
superstores with education. Prices vary per camp. To find the camp closest to
