BOSTON (Thomson Financial) - XenoPort Inc. Wednesday reported positive
results from a Phase I clinical trial of XP21279, the company's transported
prodrug of levodopa (L-Dopa) designed to treat Parkinson's disease.
The Santa Clara, Calif.-based biotechnology company said XP21279 produced a
more sustained exposure of L-Dopa compared with oral L-Dopa dosed in the same
healthy subjects.
XenoPort also said the drug was well-tolerated in this first trial in
humans.
The stock closed at $39.13 on Tuesday.
