Wolters Kluwer Financial Services today announced the availability of
the Rule Archives library. Offered through CCH®
Wall Street’s Compliance Resource Network
(CRN) and Wolters Kluwer Law & Business’
Internet Research NetWork (IRN), the library provides online access to
prior versions of FINRA, NASD, NYSE, American Stock Exchange, and NYSE
Arca rules dating back to 2000, greatly simplifying regulatory research
for compliance and legal professionals.
With new and changing laws and regulations, financial services firms
must not only stay current with the latest industry rules, but they must
also have ready access to historical rules in order to oversee and
manage compliance issues within their organization, such as pending
litigation, audits or arbitration. In these situations, firms must often
refer to company records and historical regulatory data to demonstrate
that they have remained compliant with changing rules and regulations or
that past transactions met the specified regulatory requirements at that
point in time.
Researching prior versions of exchange/self-regulatory organization
rules can be time-consuming, as compliance professionals look for
specific rules from a particular timeframe. The task can be even more
challenging if they are relying on print archive copies. The Rule
Archives simplify the research process by making these prior versions
available online, allowing users to easily access and compare current
and prior versions of the rules on a single platform. And while other
resources only offer two or three years of historical data, the Rule
Archives date back seven years.
“Rules in the securities industry are
constantly being updated, making it difficult to keep track of the
latest changes and reference rules that applied in the past,”
said Peter Berkery, vice president and general manager of Securities
Compliance Solutions at Wolters Kluwer Financial Services. “Using
the robust searching capabilities of the Compliance Resource Network or
Internet Research NetWork, compliance and legal professionals can now
quickly pinpoint the version of a rule that applied at the time a
transaction or event occurred in the past.”
