Wind River®, a world leader in delivering software for
intelligent connected systems, has added new members to its Wind
River Titanium Cloud ecosystem, a program dedicated to accelerating
the deployment of solutions for Network Functions Virtualization
(NFV). The latest members include Check Point® Software
Technologies Ltd., ConteXtream, Cyan, Intel® Security, Ixia, Qosmos
and Spirent. They join existing partners: Artesyn, ASTRI, Brocade,
GENBAND, HP, Kontron, Metaswitch, Nakina and Overture.
As the Titanium Cloud program expands, current members also
continue to introduce new NFV solutions validated on the Wind River
Titanium Server NFV infrastructure platform. As an example, Applied
Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) has introduced an
LTE Small Cell Gateway and Security Gateway as virtual network
functions (VNFs) optimized for Titanium Server.
“In order to accelerate their NFV deployment and reduce schedule
risk, service providers are looking for validated, market-ready
end-to-end NFV solutions,” said Charlie Ashton, senior director of
business development for networking solutions at Wind River. “Our
ecosystem is expanding rapidly, and with the addition of new
members we continue to deliver the availability of optimized,
interoperable solutions for service providers and telecom equipment
manufacturers (TEMs). In collaboration with our ecosystem partners,
we are addressing several of the industry’s toughest NFV
challenges, such as management and orchestration, security, and
testing.”
"In NFV and the cloud alike, the software platform is the
critical bridge between an exploding mix of features and
applications and a pool of servers to host them. Platform software
accelerates performance, improves resilience, and above all creates
a consistent framework for deployment and operations that builds
economy of scale,” said Tom Nolle, president, founder, and
principal analyst of CIMI Corporation. “Wind River's Titanium
Cloud ecosystem is the number one example of platform software for
NFV and the cloud, and every new member both proves the value of
the ecosystem and extends that value by adding integrated, critical
platform features. The Titanium Cloud ecosystem is becoming
the universal constant of NFV."
Through the Titanium Cloud program, partners validate and
pre-integrate their hardware and software offerings with Wind River
Titanium Server and deliver solutions ready for deployment in live
NFV networks. Complementing the Wind River Titanium Server NFV
infrastructure software, partners provide solutions at all other
levels of the overall end-to-end architecture: OSS/BSS,
orchestration, VNFs, and hardware server platforms.
About the latest members:
Check Point enables service providers to maximize NFV benefits
without sacrificing carrier-grade performance. Check Point security
solutions for virtualized environments and SDN take advantage of
cost efficiencies, automation and increased orchestration to
deliver security while meeting service provider network
requirements. Many global ISPs, MSPs, and cloud providers use Check
Point’s mature virtualized security technology to secure private
and public cloud infrastructures to achieve a lower total cost of
operations (TCO).
ConteXtream’s ContexNet delivers a carrier-grade
software-defined-networking (SDN) fabric that is based on standards
and enables NFV for various solutions deployed on carrier
networks.
“Service providers are looking for subscriber awareness in order
to enable the delivery of personalized services,” said Anshu
Agarwal, vice president of marketing at ConteXtream. “As an early
pioneer in SDN, and through our collaboration in the Wind River
Titanium Cloud ecosystem, ConteXtream’s ContexNet enables service
providers to virtualize critical network functions, allowing them
to enhance their existing service packages, rapidly deploy new
services and increase revenue.”
Cyan enables network transformation. The company’s award-winning
SDN and NFV solutions deliver orchestration, agility, and scale to
networks that until now have been static and hardware-driven.
Deployed with more than 150 customers globally, including carriers,
enterprises, governments, and data centers, Cyan’s open platforms
provide multi-vendor, multi-layer control and visibility to network
operators, making service delivery more efficient and
profitable.
“NFV is a breakthrough technology that enables service providers
to rapidly develop and deliver new high-margin services that
deliver a better customer experience,” said Joe Cumello, chief
marketing officer at Cyan. “Initiatives such as Wind River’s
Titanium Cloud program play an important role in accelerating the
deployment of production best-in-class NFV solutions for our
customers and we are pleased to join.”
Ixia provides application performance and security resilience
solutions to validate, secure, and optimize businesses’ physical
and virtual networks. Enterprises, service providers, network
equipment manufacturers, and governments rely on Ixia’s solutions
to deploy new technologies and secure their networks. Ixia's
powerful and versatile solutions exceed customer expectations and
achieve better business outcomes.
“The Wind River Titanium Server solution provides the industry
with an integrated, carrier grade platform for delivering services
based on NFV,” said Mike Haugh, product marketing director for
Ixia. “Through the Titanium Cloud ecosystem, Ixia's NFV
testing and visibility solutions will help to validate performance
and provide operational efficiency throughout the development,
deployment and change management of the service life-cycle.”
Intel Security is intensely focused on developing proactive,
proven security solutions and services that protect systems,
networks, and mobile devices for business and personal use around
the world. In collaboration with Wind River, Intel Security
provides carrier-class SDN and NFV security solutions for
enterprises and communications service providers including
comprehensive next-generation firewall protections. Performance and
flexibility benefits are achieved through highly efficient software
design and integration of advanced technologies such as Intel® Data
Plane Development Kit (Intel DPDK)1.
“Flexibility and cost advantages are driving communications
service providers to consider SDN and NFV solutions,” said Pat
Calhoun, general manager of network security at Intel Security. “In
addition to six nines carrier-class reliability, virtualized
solutions must also include broad and highly available security to
help protect networks and customers against advanced attacks and
evasions. Wind River understands these demands and has chosen to
work with Intel Security to include our virtualized McAfee Next
Generation Firewall in their carrier-class Titanium Server
solution.”

cyber security, and more. Qosmos brings fast time-to-market for
network intelligence and continuous protocol signature updates
inside physical, SDN, and NFV networking products.
“The pre-integration of the Qosmos Classifier™ with Wind River
Titanium Server brings several benefits: it makes it easier to
create new service chain combinations, reduces TCO with COTS-based
deployments, and facilitates migration between existing and future
architectures,” said Jerome Tollet, chief technology officer at
Qosmos. “As a member of the Titanium Cloud ecosystem we are excited
to join forces with Wind River to assist customers in reaching
their NFV objectives.”
