MCLEAN, Va., Aug. 25, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- WidePoint
Corporation (NYSE Mkt: WYY) a leading provider of Managed Mobility
Services (MMS), specializing in Cybersecurity and
Telecommunications Lifecycle Management (TLM) solutions, announced
today that WidePoint is approved to issue ECA PIV-I credentials
having met the requirements of DoD and GSA, the only company to
obtain this approval.
The ECA PIV-I credential is the first fully federated identity
credential in the federal government because it crosses over
defense (ECA) and civilian (PIV-I) communities of interest, thus
providing a single high-assurance credential with full
interoperability throughout the government. ECA PIV-I credentials
also enable enterprises to achieve multi-factor authentication,
digital signature, and encryption capabilities to protect corporate
assets. This milestone is particularly timely with the White
House's recent release of Circular A-130, Managing Information as a
Strategic Resource, which requires the use of PIV credentials by
employees and contractors for multi-factor authentication and
credentials issued by trusted PKIs.
Jason Holloway, chief sales &
marketing officer of WidePoint, said, "After rigorous testing with
DoD and GSA, WidePoint is the only organization to achieve this
approval and positions us to significantly expand our customer
base. We can provide one-stop shopping for government contractors
and enterprise employees to not only meet mandated requirements but
also safeguard access to data and applications, while meeting the
demands of users for a simple sign-in process. We're also
positioning our customers for easy upgrade to our
Certificate-on-Device™ for all their mobile needs."
WidePoint has been an approved and trusted issuer of US
Government strong authentication credentials since 1999 and has
been a certified, accredited, and audited issuer of PIV credentials
since 2006, managing over 10 million certificates. With the
evolution and need to leverage PIV on mobile devices, WidePoint
Certificate-on-Device™ provides the technological advances to
deploy derived credentials to meet the needs of the growing mobile
workforce.
WidePoint CEO Steve Komar said,
"We are very proud to have received the first sponsored and
interoperable ECA PIV-I credential confirmation from both the DoD
and the GSA. Coupling this with the focus by the White House Office
of Management and Budget to stress the importance and use of PIV
credentials and digital signatures, along with our expertise in
derived credentials and our Certificate on Device mobile
capabilities, we are excited with the convergence we are clearly
witnessing within both the identity management and mobile
communities."
WidePoint's offices in Fairfax,
VA, are currently coordinating the rollout of this new
credential capability. Learn more and inquire about your own
