MCLEAN, Va., Oct. 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- WidePoint
Corporation (NYSE Mkt: WYY), a leading provider of Managed Mobility
Services (MMS) specializing in Cybersecurity and Telecommunications
Lifecycle Management (TLM) solutions, today announced that Rear
Admiral Robert E. Day Jr., Coast
Guard (Ret.), through his consulting firm Bob Day & Associates
LLC, has partnered with WidePoint Corporation to assist the Company
in pursuing new and expanded business opportunities within the
Homeland Security and cyber technology markets.
Rear Admiral Day retired from US Coast Guard (USCG) in 2014
after serving 34 years of active duty. He took over the post of
USCG CIO in 2009, and simultaneously served as assistant commandant
for Command, Control, Communications, Computers & Information
Technology, and as commander of the Coast Guard's Cyber Command.
Day also served as the chief of planning and budget for the
Electronics Systems Division at Maintenance and Logistics Command
Pacific, and he commanded the Coast Guard's largest Electronic
Systems Support Unit in Boston,
overseeing electronics and communications support to the John F.
Kennedy Jr. aircraft crash, the Egypt Air 900 air disaster, and the
response to the 9/11 World Trade Center terrorist attack. Rear
Admiral Day is currently the Principal at Bob Day & Associates
LLC, where he provides cyber and technology consulting services to
public and private sector organizations. He is also Executive
Director for the Commonwealth of Virginia Cyber Commission.
"Demanding budget environments are requiring CIOs and CFOs to
identify all possible strategies to maximize the effectiveness of
all resources. Centralized managed services for Information
Technology and especially Telecommunications capabilities are
increasingly being identified as a highly effective means to not
only reduce recurring costs but also significantly improve overall
enterprise visibility and accountability for costly
telecommunication services," stated Admiral Day. He further added,
"WidePoint's Telecommunications Lifecycle Management solution has
helped numerous public and private organizations rapidly achieve
significant reductions in overall recurring telecommunications
costs by optimizing services being ordered and providing real-time
enterprise visibility of all assets; objectives that both CFOs and
CIOs can quickly agree on."
"We are thrilled to have Admiral Day assist WidePoint going
forward as we pursue new opportunities in the Federal and
commercial spaces for our proprietary IT solutions," said
Steve L. Komar, chief executive officer & chairman of
WidePoint Corporation. "During the last several years of Bob's
tenure at the Coast Guard, he was front and center of great changes
in technology and major challenges to the Coast Guard's ability to
maintain its modernization and readiness efforts in an environment
of rapidly increasing cybersecurity, mobility and budgetary
pressures—the same environmental conditions that WidePoint is
challenged to respond to today in order to meet the needs of its
customers and prospects at Homeland Security and other Federal
agencies. We look forward to working with Bob to aggressively
expand our addressable markets and deliver our next-generation IT
solutions to customers around the globe."
