TULSA, Okla., April 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Whirlpool
Corporation (WHR) announces today that its Tulsa plant has achieved a significant
manufacturing milestone by building its 20 millionth free-standing
range. The landmark unit is a gas range produced for the Whirlpool
brand.
"After producing ranges here in Tulsa for 18 years, Line 3 completed our 20
millionth unit this afternoon," said Bruce
Alexander, Tulsa plant
leader. "We are proud to be invested in American manufacturing, and
reaching this milestone today reflects Whirlpool's steady product
leadership in building the industry's best ranges."
Many employees work on Line 3 between two shifts, producing gas
ranges for the Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid and Amana brands. All
employees who built the special unit took a group photo with the
range and signed a congratulatory letter that details the
production milestone to its future owner. A buyer will learn the
surprise story behind their new range when they open it up later
this year.
Since production first started in 1996, Whirlpool Corporation's
Tulsa plant has produced
free-standing ranges for customers in the U.S. and overseas. More
than 1,000 employees build ranges for Whirlpool Corporation's
Maytag, Whirlpool, KitchenAid and Amana brands. The plant has been
a leader in innovation, introducing cutting-edge features such as
AquaLift® technology for oven cleaning.
