BOSTON (Thomson Financial) - Wendy's International Inc. Thursday said
second-quarter average same-store sales at U.S. company-operated restaurants
rose 0.1%, while second-quarter average same-store sales at U.S. franchise
restaurants rose 1.1%.
The Dublin, Ohio-based restaurant chain said it is "encouraged" that sales
trends improved compared to the previous two quarters. However, Wendy's said it
expects continued pressures from "escalating commodity costs, a weakened economy
and a challenging competitive environment" in the second half of the year.
Shares closed Wednesday at $25.21.
