FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - Advertising company WPP Group will remain
interested in Taylor Nelson Sofres Plc. (TNS), even if a fusion of TNS and GfK
AG. takes place, Chief Executive Martin Sorrell told Frankfurter Allgemeine
Zeitung in an interview.
"It is fact, that we have great interest in TNS and will remain interested,
if a fusion with GfK takes place," Sorrell said.
WPP approached TNS' board with an unsolicited offer to acquire the market
research company for about 950 million pounds, or 230 pence per share, on May 3,
2008.
It made the offer shortly after TNS and GfK, a German-based research
company, announced their intention to merge on equal terms.
Although TNS' board turned down WPP's 230 pence per share offer, WPP
publicly asked TNS' board to open talks and give the group access to the same
level of information as Gfk.
