LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Mobile phone giant Vodafone says it is
interested in winning full control at South African unit Vodacom.
Vodafone has repeatedly declared its interest in raising its stake in
Vodacom, which is a 50-50 joint venture operated with Telkom of South Africa.
On Wednesday however, Telkom ditched talks with Vodafone concerning the
companies' respective investments in Vodacom.
"No more talks are taking place at the moment but we continue to be
interested if the opportunity presents and it can be done at a fair price," a
Vodafone spokesman told AFP.
