SAN FRANCISCO (Thomson Financial) - Virgin Mobile USA Inc. late Monday
reported first-quarter net earnings of $4.75 million, or 7 cents a share, versus
$19.2 million, or 38 cents a share, the prior-year period.
The mean estimate of analysts polled by Thomson Reuters was a per-share
profit of 4 cents.
Total operating revenue was $326.8 million versus $339.3 million a year
earlier, versus the mean Street view of $317 million.
The company affirmed its 2008 guidance range of a penny loss to a 3-cent
profit per share on net service revenue of $285 million to $295 million.
Shares of the Warren, N.J.-based wireless communications company closed the
regular session up 25 cents, or 7.1%, at $3.75.
