LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Virgin Media Inc. chief executive Neil Berkett
confirmed he was in talks with BSkyB about the return of the satellite
broadcaster's basic channels to his cable service, said The Daily Telegraph.
"We are in dialogue," said Berkett, "Both [Sky chief executive] Jeremy
Darroch and myself are saying we'd like to do a deal."
But he played down expectations that an agreement was imminent, adding: "The
unfortunate thing is we don't have a conclusion. I'd love to do a deal but we
haven't done one yet."
Sky withdrew its basic channels, including Sky One and Sky News, from Virgin
Media's service in February last year as the two went head-to-head in a battle
for pay-TV customers.
