WASHINGTON (AP) - Valero Energy Corp. spent $156,000 to lobby the federal
government on fuel specifications, credit card fees and other issues in the
first quarter of the year.
The oil refiner also lobbied on legislation dealing with credit-reporting
standards, climate change, price gouging, taxes, aviation fees, chemical
facility security and more, according to the form posted online April 18 by the
House clerk's office.
The San Antonio-based company spent $701,000 to lobby the U.S. federal
government in 2007.
Besides Congress, Valero lobbied the White House, Environmental Protection
Agency, as well as the departments of Energy, State, Treasury and Homeland
Security in the first three months of the year.
