LONDON—Almost 400 union members working across eight of Royal
Dutch Shell PLC's oil and gas platforms in the U.K. North Sea have
voted to strike July 26 in a dispute over pay cuts, Unite union
said Monday.
The members work for oil services company Wood Group PLC. The
first 24-hour stoppage will take place on July 26 and will be
followed by a series of other stoppages over the following weeks,
the statement said.
Union members working in the North Sea are opposed to Wood
Group's proposal to cut pay and allowances by up to 30%.
Oil service companies have slashed jobs across the world
following the fall in oil prices to around $47 a barrel from over
$100 a barrel in mid-2014.
Wood Group and Shell weren't immediately available to
comment.
