VOD Vodafone Group Plc

LONDON--Unilever PLC (UL) said that Vittorio Colao, chief executive of Vodafone Group PLC (VOD.LN), will join the board as a non-executive director on July 1.

Mr. Colao's appointment follows several board changes announced earlier this week. On March 3 Unilever said directors Sir Malcolm Rifkind, Byron Grote, Kees Storm and Paul Walsh won't stand for re-election this year. Judith Hartmann and Nils Smedegaard Andersen were named as new directors.

The consumer-goods company announced Mr. Rifkind's departure a week after the former U.K. foreign secretary said he would leave parliament after becoming embroiled in a media sting.

The appointments are dependent on shareholders' approval.
